Bodog to Release All New Poker Software in November

Bodog will release an all new version of their poker software in November 2011, according to Bodog Europe CEO Patrik Selin. He states that the new software is a new platform, and not the original version they've been using since it was purchased from Micropower. He said their poker product has not been pushed hard in Europe like their sportsbook and casino because of the outdated software, and that they are pushing to become a top three poker site.

Betsharks Provides Explanation Why Their Site and the Atlantis Poker Network Have Been Down

Betsharks, and the other four smaller skins on the Atlantis Poker Network have been inaccessible for the past two weeks. Players attempting to login to the client or cashier received the message: "Service Unavailable: The service is not available." As of three days ago, the websites all have a scrolling banner that reads "Betsharks.com(or other skin name) is in the process of Rebranding..." Players with large balances have reported being unable to cashout or get responses from support since the inaccessibility began.

After a couple attempts we received the following statement from Betsharks on the situation.
BetSharks is currently in the process of re-branding itself and has taken the decision to switch from the Atlantis Network due to certain discrepancies/disagreement with the Network.

Since this process of re-branding involves the complete overhauling of the BetSharks structure, it may be a bit prolonged taking up to 2-3 weeks.

We shall get back to you with further developments within the stipulated time span and would like to assure you that all players’ available balance shall be kept intact and would be transferred over to the new network after the successful revamping of the BetSharks structure.

This step has been taken by the Management in order to provide/ensure our player's with a superior gaming experience and we would appreciate your co-operation/assistance in this matter.

TexasHoldemSaloon, the other skin that launched with Betsharks in November 2010 when the Atlantis Poker Network opened, moved to the Entraction Network three weeks ago.

Full Tilt Releases Official Statement on Issues Trying to Repay Players

"As is obvious from the events that have transpired since April 15th, Full Tilt Poker was not prepared for the far-reaching, US government enforcement effort of Black Friday.

The events of Black Friday came on the heels of prior government enforcement activities and significant theft. Over the two years preceding Black Friday, the US government seized approximately $115M of player funds located in U.S. banks. While we believed that offering peer-to-peer online poker did not violate any federal laws—a belief supported by many solid and well-reasoned legal opinions — the DOJ took a different view. In addition, as was widely reported, a key payment processor stole approximately $42M from Full Tilt Poker. Until April 15th, Full Tilt Poker had always covered these losses so that no player was ever affected. Finally, during late 2010 and early 2011, Full Tilt Poker experienced unprecedented issues with some of its third-party processors that greatly contributed to its financial problems. While the company was on its way to addressing the problems caused by these processors, Full Tilt Poker never anticipated that the DOJ would proceed as it did by seizing our global domain name and shutting down the site worldwide.

Over the last four months, Full Tilt Poker has been actively exploring opportunities with outside investors in order to stabilize the company and pay back our players. At least six of those groups, including hedge funds, operators of other internet businesses and individual investors, have visited Dublin to inspect the operation. We have recently engaged an additional financial advisor through an investment banking group to assist us in our search for an infusion of cash as well as a new management team to restore the site and repay players. While any deal of this nature is necessarily complex given the current regulatory environment, our players should know that Full Tilt Poker is fully committed to paying them back in full and restoring confidence in our operations."

Merge Gaming Network adds Malta LGA Gaming License Option

The Merge Gaming Network announced that partner skins will now have the option of a Malta LGA (Lotteries & Gaming Authority) Class 4 gaming license. This is an EU license, which means EU residents can play tax free. The Malta LGA license is one of the few that requires player funds to be segregated (see section 40). This is in addition to the Kahnawake Gaming Commission license held by the entire network.

CarbonPoker & BlackChipPoker have already acquired the additional LGA license, while LockPoker has been called out by the LGA for falsely claiming to be LGA licensed.

Full Tilt Poker Releases Statement Regarding Recent Sale Attempts

Full Tilt Poker released a statement regarding recent attempts to negotiate a sale.
Dublin, Ireland (August 22nd, 2011) - On August 16th, Irish based Pocket Kings Ltd., brand executor for the Full Tilt Poker moniker concluded the exclusivity period of negotiations with their current potential investor.

While Pocket Kings Ltd. plans to continue discussions with its current investor, the company has now begun negotiations with additional potential investors to conclude the sale/partnership of the Full Tilt Poker brand and its assets.

Full Tilt Poker apologizes for its lack of communication with its customers over the last month and a half, but it has been grappling with unexpected and complex legal and financial issues arising from Black Friday and its aftermath. In addition, the company has had to be circumspect about disclosing the progress of negotiations with potential investors because there is often a requirement of strict confidentiality. To the extent that it can do so without jeopardizing future opportunities, Full Tilt Poker will strive to have better communication with its customers going forward.

Full Tilt Poker's number one priority remains the same: to secure an infusion of capital to repay all of its worldwide customers.

PPNpoker Leaving Cake Network to Start Their Own and Stopping US Signups

PPNpoker.eu announced they will no longer take new US player signups after August 31st, and are leaving the Cake Poker Network. PPNpoker will move to proprietary software and network in early Fall, which will include live dealers, dealer's choice games, and more new features. Existing US players will be grandfathered in.

It is likely the proprietary software is the same as CEO Chuck Kidd had developed for his new subscription-only poker site PokeroomUSA. There is no comment on how this will effect two payment processors, MyPaylinQ and PicClub, that are related parties.

UPDATE 11/27/11; PPN's new beta software became available for download and play money testing on October 31st. The software seemed to be the same as was used by the very short lived site, LiveCardDealers.com. Since Thanksgiving the new play money software has failed to connect to their servers. PPN players have been unable to cashout their funds since the room left Cake August 31st.

PartyPoker Scraps Rake Increases and Completes Transition to Weighted Contributed Rake

PartyPoker announced they are cancelling their plan to increase cash game rake, after a large sit-out protest by midstakes players. Party also delayed the transition from dealt rake to weighted-contributed rake by one day, and completed the change August 25th.

Winning players tend to prefer dealt sites because they get an equal share of rakeback and other rewards regardless of how many hands they play, and winning players generally play fewer hands. Dealt rake distribution does tend to make the games on a site tighter and less profitable however. This leaves only Cake, PokerStars, and Everest using the dealt rake-distribution model.

Washington DC Online Gambling Delayed Again

The DC Lottery pushed back the community meetings for residents to give feedback on the online gambling initiative. They were moved from Mid-August through September, to Mid-September through October so they were no longer scheduled during the summer. Licensed online poker and gambling cannot be launched in the District until these are concluded.
