WPT Season 7 To Be Sponsored By Full Tilt Poker

WPT Enterprises will get $3.25 million from Full Tilt Poker for sponsorship of season 7, which will start airing on Fox Sports Net on December 7. I've been saying for a while now that this was the obvious, and perhaps only, course available to them. Shutting down their own online poker site recently opened up the opportunity to work with a more successful one. The sponsorhip covers the season 7 broadcasts on FSN and in Mexico.

  1. WPT Enterprises no longer gets licensing fees under the FSN deal. How does sponsorship revenue compare with the old licensing fees? Steve Lipscomb previously said "$7 million from GSN... is a paltry sum compared to the amount of money that is being spent to sponsor poker shows in the marketplace," but the new deal is for $3.25 million. There were 20 season 6 shows at $350,000 each. The FSN deal covers 13 of the 14 season 7 episodes (the WPT Championship is believed to be the one excluded), so that's $250,000 each. That's pretty good compared to my expectations.

  2. The WPTE also gets four 30-second ads per episode as part of their FSN deal.

  3. Now that I think of it, WPTE also earned performance fees under the GSN deal, but I don't recall the amounts. I think it was significant, however.
