Lon McEachern And The WSOP

Casino City Times has an interesting article about WSOP announcer Lon McEachern. Amazingly, "When fans do stop McEachern and Chad to talk about the ESPN coverage, they are often disappointed to hear that the shows they watch every summer are not taped live."

  1. What I hate about WSOP TV coverage is how long you have to wait from the end of the event to see it on TV.

Granted this year they are taking the final table of the main event and moving it to November so they can lead up to it by airing the other WSOP events during July, August, September, October.

Still, we'll know who won the main event a few days before it airs on TV anyways.

I wish it could be edited and aired a lot quicker than they do it.

  2. The Main Event will finish the same day it airs this year. They play down from 9 to 2 about a day before that. I'll avoid the media, or at least poker media, Sunday to Tuesday so that I don't know who the final two are.

  3. This, again, shows the public reception of shows like the WSOP. They don't care about Poker, they don't want to think bout the strategy and they don't even realize it's a little bit odd that every hand they show on TV results in a big pot or has some other drama around it.

In a nutshell: That's bad for us poker fans.

  4. Poker News Daily has an interview with Lon McEachern where he discusses the process of voicing WSOP episodes.
