Interview With Poker TV Producer Mori Eskandani
Ante Up! has a fascinating interview with Mori Eskandani on their latest podcast. It's long, but there are a lot of fascinating nuggets in it. The interview starts about 40% of the way through the podcast. Mori runs POKER-PROductions, which produces High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark, and other shows. See also this previous interview.

One of the interesting things Mori says in the interview is that he thinks stud, a game he's played all his life, is the next game they should try televising. HORSE was a bit too ambitious of ESPN in his opinion. I disagree. I think pot-limit Omaha is the obvious choice. Omaha is the most similar game to Hold'em, and it's easy to televise and for someone familiar with Hold'em to understand. It's also popular, especially in Europe. It's the game of choice at the nosebleed stakes online. I just check traffic on the world's largest online poker room, and Omaha has 2.7 times as many players as stud (just couting 7 stud and 7 stud/8). PLOH alone has much more traffic than stud.
