Vega Promotional Systems announced that they will produce The All Star Transcontinental Challenge, in which eight poker professionals will compete for $1,000,000 in gold. Eight single-table tournaments will be held at four venues: a yacht off the coast of Monte Carlo, the Orient Express, a jet to Las Vegas, and a Las Vegas casino. They are planning to film in November and air eight hours of programming in the US during the first quarter of 2008.
It troubles me that they'd prefer to create another poker-based game show instead of filming the real high-stakes poker that's played all over the world every day. That's what you get when poker TV is produced by people who aren't interested in poker who assume that no one else is either.
