The World Poker Tour has canceled their taping of the Grand Prix de Paris, apparently due to France's crackdown on online gambling. France has been aggressively cracking down on online gambling to protect its state monopoly. WPT Enterprises does operate an online poker room, and French gaming authorities didn't give them permission to film the tournament. The European Union recently began investigating some member countries for similar discrimination against foreign operators. The Grand Prix de Paris, which was to be shown on TV next season, will go on without TV coverage.

I missed it at the time, but the National Poker League cancelled its French TV broadcast a few days later (their press release is at http://www.nplworldpoker.com/april-16-07.html). They aren't associated with an online poker room.
